I met up with Jennifer and David last Sunday for a really fun engagement session. Jennifer wanted some beach pictures so we headed on down to the Santa Monica Pier. We ended up finding a really cool painted divider with one of Jennifer’s favorite artists. I thought that was a pretty cool find. My favorite spot of the Santa Monica pier is always underneath. I just love playing in the pilings. Such cool architecture shots! We ended the session up on the grass for some lovely sunset backlighting. I can’t wait for their wedding next month at Firestone.
Let’s me start out by saying that I’ve known Nathan since he was a baby. Until a few years ago I never would have thought I’d be taking his Senior portraits. I’m feeling a little old and dated right now! After getting over that feeling the session was really fun! We hit some classic Ventura spots and of course ended up down at the beach. Hopefully he has the best Cresto senior portraits to date ;)
Alisa and Kelly had their engagement sessions in Santa Babara.. one of my favorite places to shoot! Santa Barbara is just one of the most beautiful places ever. Combine that with two adorable people and you have some really cute engagement pictures! We started out at the Santa Barbara Mission and then worked our way down state street to the beach. Alisa and Kelly are such a fun couple. They danced on the train tracks and played a little soccer. My favorite was the picnic lunch with some vino :) Of course they shared! I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in September!
Kate and Jason decided to have thier engagement session in Santa Monica. We did a monrning session so we could avoid all the spring beach crowds. I loved having full rein of the pier with hardley any people out and about. We had tons of fun playing with all the colored walls, beach, underneath the pier and then ending the session with the bikes. I’m so glad they could take a break from all the wedding planning and just enjoy each other. After all… that’s what it’s all about :) Kate and Jason are getting married in later this year in Palos Verdes.
Laura and David are getting married at the Westlake Village Inn in July. The wedding is going to be amazing. For their engagement pictures we included Laura’s son Franky. We had tons of fun playing around in Santa Monica. It was family portrait meets engagement session :) Franky is going to make an excellent best man. I love all the colored walls on main street so we started out near the Victorian and then made our way down to the Santa Monica Pier. I think I’m going to start doing more of these sessions :)
I love shooting in SB! I ws sooo excited when Jenny and Brian wanted to do their engagement session. Santa Barbara just has such a feel to it … it’s rustic yet luxurious at the same time. I drove up with Jenny and Brian and had so much fun chatting with them about their wedding. We started out at the Santa Barbara Mission. The light there was so amazing!
We had some fun times at the Santa Barbara Courthouse. Our last stop was the pier. The sunset was amazing. I think we timed the engagement session just right. Jenny and Brian were such a fun couple to shoot. It was a good way to spend a Sunday :)
You might remember this family from Carrie and Joel’s wedding. I had the pleasure of photographing Carrie’s sister Sarah. Devon is the cutest kid ever! She loves coins. She was a real pleasure to play with on the pier.
Dominique and David got engaged at the Santa Monica Pier…. so when it came to their engagement session there was no question as to where we had to do it! They are such a great couple!!! I was really sad that I parked in two hour parking. I could have played around with them for a few more hours! They are going to have such a great wedding! Congratulations you two :)
Tuesday night Mark and Jason planned a trash the dress session for the entire group. They gathered 11 brides/grooms for us to photograph. Our group has a news crew with us for the entire shoot covering the event. It was awesome! Our bride was up for anything and tons of fun. She was so beautiful! The event was on the news here and in the newspaper the next morning. I can’t wait to see all the great art that came out of the event.
Go visit the “Trash the Dress” site! It’s not about trashing the dress just to trash it. We love to create beautiful images in a fun environment and just aren’t afraid to get a little dirty in the process.
I’ve been looking forward to Andi & Ignacio’s engagement session for awhile. We planned on shooting in Santa Barbara and I just knew it would be awesome! Our first attempt we drove all the way up there and it started raining when we hit the rincon so we turned around. This time I couldn’t have asked for better lighting. We thought it would be gray but the light turned warm just as we hit lower state street. The warm light just lit up Andi’s face. She looked so beautiful. Andi & Ignacio were such naturals in front of the camera… I can’t wait to shoot their wedding later this summer at the Westlake Village Inn. To top the session off we got a beautiful sunset when we finished up at Sterns Wharf. I love Santa Barbara!
